Photographing Nature's Death
Lately, I have been photographing cut flowers inside so I can control the lighting. Sometimes I don't get to photographing those flowers while they are still alive. Thanks to that happy accident, I've found so much beauty in the death of flowers, especially tulips. The colors are amazingly vibrant and so different from when they had life. Making an interesting photograph from a dead flower can be challenging. Sometimes there are just so many chaotic things going on the with dead petals and the stamen that you can't focus on a main part. You can see my progression of dead tulips in the photographs below.
